Peter retired to Newbiggin six years ago following a career in art education in East Cheshire.
Inspiration for earlier work derived from the landscape of the Peak District and the foothills of the Pennines (where he lived for so long), the mountains of Snowdonia and northwest Scotland, and the White Mountains on Crete. He also draws inspiration from the prehistoric cup and ring markings found in abundance in Northumberland. Current work is increasingly influenced by the sea and the coast where he now lives.
He creates handbuilt sculptural ceramics and hanging wall reliefs and panels. Although he has been preoccupied with the secrets that the landscape hides he is currently concerned with spirit of place, especially where he now lives in Newbiggin by the Sea.
