The Big Draw
The Newbiggin Maritime Centre hosted this year's (2011) Big Draw week when KEAP invited members of the public to contribute their ideas for a painting to be introduced onto the sea wall along the promenade. KEAP then amalgamated a selection of the ideas into a sketch design as a starting point for future development. Some images are shown below.
Schoolchildren from Mowbray school were introduced to drawing on clay tiles using sgraffito techniques, and encouraged to make beach sculptures from found objects. This followed on from a brief walk around part of the Art Trail and a visit to the Lifeboat Station in order to accumulate ideas and see how other pieces of art had been drawn.
