The Newbiggin by the Sea Art Trail (2007 - 2012)
There is a free leaflet guiding residents and visitors around the many works of public art on display in the village. The trail takes about two hours to complete but can also be enjoyed in smaller sections.
Additional works have been installed since the first run in 2007. Three new pieces of art were installed during the summer of 2010 and four new pieces were installed along the promenade in time for the 2011 season. Nine new pieces are being installed in time for the 2012 season when the trail will contain more than 50 pieces of art in total.
Due to increased demand, hard copies of the current leaflet have run out but you can download a copy here. You can also download a copy from the Newbiggin by the Sea Community Website What's On & Places to Visit pages. The new leaflet will be ready in time for the 2012 season and will be available from Woodhorn Museum, The Old Ship Newbiggin, Morpeth Tourist Information Centre and Newbiggin Maritime Centre at Church Point.
The aim of this project is to encourage residents to explore and take pride in the art on their doorstep and to aid tourism, increase footfall and enhance visitor experience.
